  • Rental Car Theft
  • Travel Accident Coverage
  • Travel Delay
  • Trip Cancellation

Traveling WITH Travel Insurance

All policies are different and all cover different items and amounts.  What I have found to be most beneficial to me is a yearly policy.  My yearly plan with Allianz Travel costs under $300 per year and I am covered for almost everything!

Benefits and Coverage of my policy:

  • 24-Hr Hotline Assistance Included
  • Baggage Delay $200
  • Baggage Loss/Damage $1,000
  • Concierge Included
  • Emergency Medical $20,000
  • Emergency Transportation $100,000
  • Rental Car Damage and Theft Coverage $45,000
  • Travel Accident Coverage $25,000
  • Travel Delay $600
  • Trip Cancellation $3,000
  • Trip Interruption $3,000
As you can see just one benefit used would earn me my policy amount back! And with a yearly plan it covers every flight, rental car, hotel, and/or cruise I take all year!  Even when using this for a single cruise I almost break even versus buying coverage from the airline, booking refundable hotel rooms, and trip insurance with the cruise carrier. The benefits of the yearly plan are far greater as well.  It covers additional items you will not find in the air carrier protection plan, rental car coverage plan, hotel stays, or plans offered by the cruise company.

Things I would look for in a policy when cruising:

  • Emergency Medical
    • Emergency Medical/Dental Coverage Reimbursement
  • Emergency Transportation
    • This part of the plan covers:
      • Emergency Evacuation (Transporting you to the nearest appropriate hospital)
      • Medical Repatriation (Getting you home after you receive care)
      • Transport to Bedside (Bringing a friend or family member to you)
      • Return of Dependents (Getting minors and dependents home)
      • Repatriation of Remains (Getting your remains home)
  • All other benefits, while great to have, are available dependent on the plan you select.

Some Other Things To Keep In Mind While Traveling

  • You may have to pay out of pocket for medical care! Even though there are cases where hospitals do not charge tourists for minor treatment, there’s really no country that offers free healthcare for short-term visitors.

  • U.S. credit and debit cards do NOT work in Cuba. Bring enough cash to cover your stay. This includes payment for hotels, restaurants, taxis, souvenir shops, etc. 1

I do not receive anything from my Allianz referral.  It is simply me referring you to a product I used based on my own experience!
